It doesn't matter if a person is black or white they still shouldn't be saying it! But when a black person says it to another black person they aren't saying it in a racist way, the person isn't discriminating against the other black person. Most of the time if a white person calls a black person the 'n' word they are discriminating and are racist but if you go to the ghetto you'll hear white people call their friends this and their black friends will call them the same. So it depends on how they are saying it, either way I think it's wrong to call people this. You hear it so much in rap, mostly gangsta rap which mostly relates to the ghetto. That's why you hear the word more in the ghetto then in a richy stuck up neighborhood, rarely do you see a black person in a rich preppy neighborhood call another black person the 'n' word. These kids think it's cool to go around acting all tough and 'gangsta' calling each other ****** this ****** that, really they just sound like punks. I don't hate rap, I actually love gangsta rap but some of these rappers really need to check them selfs. The words overused, were it shouldn't be used at all. They completely forget that they have thousands if not millions of young kids looking up to them, wanting to be just like them. And when these kids hear these rappers doing raps like
"had it locked *****,
I'm in the rear view my guns is cockin,
I'll put red dots on that ***** head like rodman,"
"If you take a look in my eyes,
You see i'll be a gangsta till I die,
That California chronic got me so high,
Game tell them where your from,
***** westside! "
"rep yo hood *****
***** you hard, right?

Yayo, get Mobs & them ****** on the phone tell them ****** I said to grip up,
****** got a green light on these mufuckas"
Ok let me say this, I got nothin against 50 or the game. But some of these songs litterally say ***** every 5 seconds. Now a young impressionable child listening to these would probably think "oh well sense he's saying it's gotta be cool!" Then he starts calling all of his friends *****, then they start doing the same and yea, ya get my point....
Because when a white person does so it is meant as an insult .Lets get one thing straight! Not all black people address one another as the N word. Many of us (including myself) wish that our people (as well as every one else) would stop using the world all together. I personally do not like being called it, much less using it because its an ugly and uncivilised word in my opinion (the same as ***** and cvnt).
If you understand the history of the word, and where the word originated from which is the reason why many of us have a problem when we hear someone White (or of European decent) say it. And i see you had to come in the UK section to ask this question (again) because you've already received answers that you didn't like in the American forums.
All in all, its ugly, it's unacceptable, and I don't want to hear it come out of your mouth no more than I do someone of my own color. that word needs to be OVER. let it go. white ppl only need to call black ppl ****** if they're complete racists. i know you already know why it is a racist word so don't use it.
