Which president's homeschooled their children?

  • I haven't heard there have been any recent president homeschooling their children. Most presidents have kids past school age by the time they get to the white house anyway.

    I did read that Sarah Palin planned to homeschool had she been elected VP.

    Edit: If you count homeschooling kindergarten, do you count pre-k, pre-school too? Not to nitpick, but when Caroline Kennedy was 5, kindergarten wasn't offered in Catholic schools, because school didn't really start until first grade.

    In fact, most states still don't require kindergarten.

  • Among the recent presidents whose children lived at the white house:

    Gerald Ford's daughter Susan went to private school, her prom was held at the White House!

    Amy Carter attended public elementary and middle school in Washington DC

    Chelsea Clinton attended private school.

    Others:

    Richard Nixon's daughters were grown when he was president but they were schooled.

    Caroline and John Kennedy Jr.also attended private schools.

    FDR's children also attended school.

    Seems most presidents choose private schools. Security?

    EDIT: Ozboz, Wikipedia states that Caroline Kennedy attended the Brearley School, Convent of the Sacred Heart in Manhattan, and Concord Academy in Massachusetts. Could you attach a site that has the information that she information that she was home schooled? I'd like to edit that information in wikipedia so that the information is correct.

    #2nd Edit, Never mind, I found a link from Fox news that states she was homeschooled, but doesn't give a source. I'll try to figure out their source and who authored the article and if that refers to all or part of her education. I like doing research.

    #3rd Edit, found it. Jaqueline Kennedy set up a kindergarten play group at the white house when Caroline was five. All the other info I can find is that she was schooled in grades 1-12. Let me rephrase it to say that Caroline Kennedy was home schooled in kindergarten and attended Catholic schools.
