To be the best in a promotion these days, you don't need to be exceptional. You can just have a really good following and stick to the basics. Also, gimmick plays a lot into this.naw, look at Hogan.. horrible wrestler yet he's one of the biggest legends....Not, if you have charisma, cut great promos and have few wrestling moves down pat. Look at Hulk Hogan, and Ultimate Warrior, neither one was a wrestling technician, but got over with the fans.Nope I've Seen Face's and heel's on occasion get over without/or very little in-ring ability the ability to be marketed is a major factor, also the appeal to the crowd and majorly today's youth is a huge factor, mic skills,promo skills, all of those will get certain wrestlers over not 100% of the time but usually
There's an old saying "If You Can Cut The Promo You Can Draw The Reaction"no, just look at Batista or John Cena...they cant wrestle worth a lick but yet they still get over..i thnk WWE has become more of a popularity contest rather then being about who can wrestle and who cantNah. Today, WWE fans pay attention to different things (such as gimmicks, looks, character, size, etc.) besides skills that make them like a wrestler. Obviously, it shouldnt be like that but unfortunately it is.It's gimmick as well. You need to have the fans really cheer for you or boo you. It's pretty much the complete package. It's the "IT" factor.no way.all you need is charisma and an excellent gimmick.
