Alright, this may sound a little sketchy but i need some help. My dad has sent a password on the router and i really want to get in and find out my WEP KEY. he wont tell me what the password is because he thinks I will mess everything up. No matter how much i assure him, he wont let me look into it. i need the WEP KEY to play XBOX live. i already signed up and tried explaining him every day that he doesnt tell me, i loose money. Still, he wont budge on his stand. I really need some help on how to find my WEP KEY. SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...same thing here!it sucks,the thing im doing when my parents arent home i hook up my 360 straight up with the router,im researching right now.do you have aim?maybe we can try n find somthingUnfortunatly there is not a way to find your WEP key unless you can log into the router. And if you cant get into the router because of a password you are stuck.
You can reset the router, but that would not only remove the password, it would also remove the WEP security key, and kill your internet connection.
edit: I would need to know the actual router model number.I can understand why he is not giving you the router password. But why isn't he giving you the WEP key? That you haven't said.
Ask him to log in and get it for you. That shouldn't be an issue if he is just worried you will mess up the router.The easiest thing to do would be to reset your router (press the little button on the back, usually labeled reset). This will wipe the password and all the router settings and make your router open again. However, your dad would probably notice.
You could, alternatively, be a little more sneaky and research a backdoor user and password for your specific router model. Then log into the router and change the WEP password.
