lighting over lathe

  • I want to put up a shop light over my lathe. Question is should it be a little toward the wall from dead center or what?? also at what height above the lathe center?? Suggestions will be welcomed. I do not want to move it once it os put up.

    I mounted my lights directly over the center of the centers. I get no shadows, and plenty of light where the chisel meets wood. My shop has 8'6" ceiling. They are mounted right to the ceiling. I have 2, 4' 2 bulb flourescent fixtures end to end above my lathe. It's all the light you could ask for. Hope this helps, and sorry for not responding sooner.
