I noticed I need a FTP site or whatever that is

  • those are free right?? I mean are the free ones as good as the paid ones ect. where can i find a free ftp ect??

    I want to buy vb and a host right now. but i just noticed the ftp thing and it caught me off guard

  • You will NOT be able to install and run vBulletin successfully on a free webhost. You will need to get a webhost which is anywhere from $5-15/month for a website starting out. I see in your other thread that you have purchased web hosting so that takes care of that problem. ;)

    FTP is "File Transfer Protocol" it is a means of transfering your files to your server (your host), there are a lot of FTP software out there, including SmartFTP, to do exactly what I just said.

    Your server is also your host. These costs money, anything from 50 bucks to at least under 300 bucks, depending on your server's specs. Your host is the company serving your needs with your server.

    Dedicated servers runs up from 300 to maybe a grand, these are bigger than normal servers.

    To use FTP and a server, you would need a username and password from your host for your server.
