FD lens adaptor?

  • Just got a nice fd collection www.ospreyapplications.com/fd.zip (http://www.ospreyapplications.com/fd.zip) and would like to use the EOS body so I need a good adaptor. I have one without glass that works great for macro as the correction is not needed and the bellows has a plunger to adjust the apature on the lens from wide open. Anyway the question is can I get an adaptor with correction that will allow me to manually controll the diaphram or will I only be to use wide open on the eos when not macro.:D


  • Well as you seem to know, you would need an adaptor with glass in order to retain infinity focus. Some adapters will probably allow you to stop down the aperture, but you have other issues...

    You basically have the choice of an adapter with glass, making your lenses longer and slower... and probably reducing image quality very noticeably if you use any of the cheaper ones likely to pop up on eBay... the one I suspect is most likely to be good optically is the official Canon one, which is only designed for certain lenses...
    ... or you get an adapter without glass, in which case you lose infinity focus and may only be able to use the lenses for macro anyway.
