FM 2006/Winning Eleven (aka Pro Evolution Soccer)

Btw, I have question. In WE9, for free kicks, is there a button to press to make my players go all the way up to contest for headers in the box or near the box? It always seems as though the players even in coming-from-behind situations are too close to the freekick that when I loft the ball towards the penalty box, the gk will always get it. Any suggestions?
But looking at that game, it looks like a much better version of TCM.
Yes it is.
What does Anstoss have that FM doesn't...never heard of it.

I think if you change your quick setting to all-out attack, you'll get your players flooding in the box for FKs and corners. Also, if you use this close to the end of the game if you're trailing, the keeper will apparently come into the box as well (though I've never tried this). Also, how powerful is your shot when you float it in? I just barely put any power on it when I'm in closer. I press triangle (it might be different, because I changed my button configuration) to dip as well, which helps immensely on corners and FKs.
FKs and corners can be very frustrating, but once you learn some tricks, its very rewarding, and MUCH better than FIFA's FK system. Scoring a direct FK is tough, but when you get one, it's a thing of beauty!
A few days ago I scored a beauty with Littbarski (playing as Classic Germany), where he scissor-volleyed it in ala Zico from a corner kick.
One of my favorite parts of the WE games is dribbling though. That is superbly done. It's hard to dribble through the defence, but when it happens, it looks so impressive!
Lobbing it into the box seems useless if it isn't a cross or corner. The CPU has something like a .05% success rate in hitting free kicks into the box for a header against me (and I play with really poor defenders).
I'm gonna google search this game, I'm really interested now.

I'd like to know, too. I'm a complete FM addict. I won the CL league Cardiff City with the only CM4 (it only took 30 years of management), but the best I've been able to do with my latest FM is briefly get Union promoted to the BL.
I actually do manage Union Berlin (among others). I was happy that they made it to the Regionalliga in 06/07 year (in the game). But I signed too many players, so while I saved them from relegation, their finances are shoddy at best. :o
And farking Chelsea and Man UTd...I don't think I can ever win the Premiership with Everton. :(

Well, all Anstoss games, except for Anstoss 1 and Anstoss WCE, all games were only released in the German speaking countries (although Anstoss WCE was a minor hit in England, I'm not really sure about the English title).
There is a huge difference between English and German football manager games - German games focus way less on numbers (very unstereotypical :D) - although this has actually changed a bit recently (until Anstoss 3, a player's strength was measured by only 3 numbers!) - but on the other hand make you feel much more involved into the game (I haven't played the recent FM games, but in every CM game I've ever played I was bored after the first match day).

I did Corners for Goals in 8, but never for 9, it's a lot harder. The free kick system for me in 9 is better than 8, even though everyone thinks otherwise. I've even scored some beauties with Arne Friedrich taking free kicks. :D
I'll try those out. Intriguing. Thanks.
